bird is the word

where i live, kookaburra sits in the old gum tree. his laugh is a crazy cackle. it starts off slow and gathers momentum until the silly bird is busting a gut about god knows what.



cockatoos grow to the size of geese and make a racket feasting on gumnuts. they're so plentiful, they're pesky.



the ibis stalk the city in search of their past idolators and accept offerings of crackers and bread from the hands of babes.



and pelicans look silly on light posts or float majestically down the dirtiest waterway in sydney. which just happens to be next door to my workplace.
